Secrets To MLM Marketing

What you name your business can help or hurt your network marketing business.  If you can’t think of something to name your business that helps people to know what it is you offer, then it may be a good idea to brand yourself.  I am a believer in being the expert in your network marketing business.  With that in mind, it’s perfectly okay to name your business after yourself.  It certainly works for the super stars.  Take a look at Donald Trump, Brian Tracy, Oprah Winfrey, or Bill Gates, they are all considered the expert, the top of their field and when you see their name, you know what to expect from them.

Now let’s take this information and make it fit with network marketing.  Since, I am doing an Internet series right now, I want to focus on:

Marketing Your Home Based Business On The Internet

If you want to be on the Internet marketing your home based business, then it’s is very important that you have your own website.  I’m not talking about the website that you received when you signed up with your MLM Company.  I’m talking about a website that you have created.

Why Your MLM Company Website Won’t Grow Your Business

The reason you want to have your own website is simply because you want to stand out from the crowd.  Think about it.  If your MLM Company has thousands of distributors and everyone has the same website, how will people find you?  I know that you can drive traffic to any website but for the most part the websites that network marketing companies provide aren’t designed to “sell” anything.  They are great for providing information about the product or service but there isn’t anything on these websites that creates any sort of urgency to buy anything. 

You Must Have Your Own Website

It doesn’t have to be anything super fancy.  In fact, you could set up something as simple as a data capture page also known as a squeeze page.  For an example visit http://www.FuelSavingSecret.com.  It doesn’t take too long to set up something as simple at that.  So, you don’t have to worry about being a genius or anything.  I know this for a fact because I built the example website myself and if I can do it, I assure you that you probably can too. That being said, if you aren’t too good with using technology, then you can certainly find someone to do it for you very easily and it’s not too expensive either.

One of the things that you want to do before you put your website out on the Internet for everyone to see, is to spend some time coming up with a good name for your site.

How A Name Can Increase Your Traffic

It’s true.  What you choose for a domain name can help drive traffic to your site.  Let’s say that you are marketing “marbles”.  No, I haven’t lost mine; I’m just using it as an example.  Okay, so you want to sell a bunch of marbles to anyone on the Internet that might be looking for them.

Does it make sense to call your website “HelpMeFindThem”.  Actually, that could be quite funny but a much better name would be something with the word “Marble” in it, maybe something like “GreatMarbles” or “MyMarbles” or whatever.

The same goes for the website that you want to promote your MLM product or service.  If you are in an MLM Company that deals with the health and wellness industry, then choose a domain name that fits with that.

What You Don’t Want To Do

There are a few things you may want to avoid when choosing your domain name. 

First, I don’t recommend that you choose a name that is based on your network marketing opportunity.  In case you haven’t checked, the competition is very high in this area.  If you want to be on the first page (and that is the goal) when someone does a search, then you want to pick a different topic.  If you don’t believe me, then check for yourself.  In any search engine type in “home based business” “MLM Company” “network marketing” or anything else that pertains to the opportunity and you will see that the competition is huge.

Second, I don’t recommend that you choose a name that has your MLM company name in it.  If you are going to do that, then you might as well use the site that your company gave you.   You will soon see that that will cost you more than you can ever hope to make by doing that.

Lastly, try to find something that is easy to remember and easy to spell.  It really doesn’t matter how long the URL is, although, shorter is better, but it should be easy to remember.

Okay, that’s it for choosing a domain name.  I know that it is a little elementary but there are some folks that don’t know how to market on the Internet at all and I am trying to give everyone a good foundation to work from.  One of the things that I wasted money on in the beginning was on getting a domain name that didn’t fit with my business.  I don’t want you do make the same mistake that I did.
