A couple of weeks ago I was conducting a class on how a blog can help your network marketing business.  I made a recording of the class and I am now making it available to you to listen to.  It was a pretty intense class where I gave up a lot of MLM secrets that I hadn’t planned on sharing when I was preparing my training materials but as you know, I don’t hold anything back.

If you have been thinking about setting up a website for your network marketing business but aren’t sure just how to get started, you may want to consider blogging.  It’s a great platform to share your expertise and it’s pretty easy to set up and maintain.  Listen to the audio above and discover:

  • How to set up a blog for your network marketing business for FREE
  • How to find the right keywords to use in your blog posts to get more traffic to your site
  • What 3 things your blog should have to make the search engines happy (ie. Google)
  • How to monetize your blog easily
  • What to write about so that you become the “go to” person for information about your MLM product
  • What to put on your blog to attract more traffic

It really was an intense hour of training about blogging.  I was asked some very good questions and was all to happy to answer them.  Check it out for yourself and if you come up with some additional questions, I would be happy to answer yours as well.  Just leave a comment with your question and I will respond.

Note: On the audio there were a few sites that I mentioned and here are the links to those sites so you don’t have do the typing:

Test Blog for OSM – This is a blog that I set up so that the folks on the call could follow along.

Aweber- an autoresponder service that I use to create the data capture boxes on my blogs so that I can build a list of people that are interested in what I have.  An autoresponder is a must have for anyone that is using the Internet to market their network marketing business.  If you need an autoresponder, you can get a free trial by clicking on the link that I created for you.

Easy DIY Home Security - This is one of my other blogs that I did and it has a static home page.  Meaning the main page always looks the same.  Most blogs have the latest post on the main page that is always changing.

Wordpress – Blogging service that I use to create my blogs.  It is pretty easy to use and has a lot of cool features.  They even have a free version that you can try out.

Wordpress Themes/Plugins - Different themes and plugins were discussed during the class and you can look at those here.

Blogger – Another free blogging platform that you can use that is easy.

Blogging Your Network Marketing Business

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

A lot of network marketers want to be on the Internet but don’t really have the gift of building websites or the money to have one built for them.  Today, I am going to share with you how you can build a website for your network marketing business that:

  • You don’t have to spend a dime on
  • You don’t have to be a technical genius or even know what html is

This MLM Secret Business Tool is Called – Blogging

I guess the first thing I should do is tell you what a BLOG is.  A blog is a type of website where you can add regular entries.  Blogs started as a form of online diaries where people would keep track of their personal lives.  A friend of mine used a blog to track his weight loss journey.  It took him over a year to lose all of the weight he wanted and he kept track of his progress on his blog.  He posted weekly pictures of himself, how often he worked out, what exercises he was doing, what food he was eating, his struggles and his successes.

Today, blogs can be used for just about anything that you want.  You can use it as a place to put down the interesting things that your kids are doing so that out of state family members can stay up to date with what is going on or you can use a blog as a business tool for your network marketing business.

With a blog, you can share your network marketing product, your business building systems and/or your expertise.  Let’s say that you have a background in home security like I do.  You could build a blog where you share your expertise and help people with their security issues.  Here is the link to my other blog http://www.EasyDIYHomeSecurity.com.  It’s not in your traditional blog format so you may get an idea of how you can make your blog look like a regular website.

Benefits of Using a Blog for Your Network Marketing Business

There are a few benefits to using a blog for your network marketing business some of these benefits are:

  • Search engines love content and they love websites that change often.  Blogging gives you a simple way to add content to your site.  The more content that you have the more the search engines will like you.
  • Blogs are easy to build.  Really, you don’t have to be a computer geek to do it.  You don’t have to have any special software or know html or anything like that.   If you are a computer geek, then you can do some really cool things with your site but it’s not necessary to have a great website.
  • Blogs give you a simple platform to share your passion, your expertise, and your network marketing product.
  • You can make money with a blog.  There are a lot of ways that you can monetize your blog so that you can make money.  You can put Google Adsense on your site, sell advertizing space, sell affiliate products, etc.

I’m sure that there are more benefits to blogging than the ones that I have listed but you get the idea.  I happen to love blogs because they are so easy to build.  For example this site that you are on is a blog.  I used Wordpress to build it.  Now this site is one that I host myself and there are benefits to hosting your blog but it’s not mandatory.  If you are in the market for a good website hosting service, then I recommend Bluehost.  They are the service that I use to host all of my websites and they are very cheap (yes, I am an affiliate and that is one way that I monetize my site).

But if you are looking to have a free blog website then I would recommend that you use either www.blogger.com or www.wordpress.com they both provide a great service and you can do a lot with a free blog.  There are some drawbacks to using a free service however.  Such as; your domain name will have an extension after it.  For example: http://howtobeonstage.blogspot.com/ , and you may be limited as far as the features that you site has but all in all they do a good job.

Well that’s it for today.  I hope you can see how having a blog can help your network marketing business.  It’s a great way to share your ideas, tips, and information about your network marketing product.  Stay tuned for more information about blogging because I will be sharing some things that your blog must have.

How To Get Prospects To Approach You

Friday, July 3rd, 2009

Do you get just a little sick every time someone tells you no?  Are you tired of chasing people down to get them to come to your home based business meetings?  How about we turn you into the one being sought out instead of the seeker?

With today’s technology, we can do this in a big way.  There are a lot of ways we can do this using the Internet.  To be effective online we want to begin by creating the lead and to do that we must learn to become skillful at 2 things:

  • Ad Copy (using the written word in an advertisement)
  • Driving traffic to a website (not just any traffic will do, it has to be “targeted” traffic)

When you combine these two things, you will suddenly be the the one that people are coming to for answers.  No more chasing people down.  Your confidence will increase and so will your MLM sales.

You Have To Be Good At 2 Things

When I said that you have to be skilled at these two things, that is because they work together.  You can have the best Ads and the best landing page in the world but if you can’t drive targeted prospects to it, it won’t make a difference.  And if you can drive tons of interested prospects to your site but the message they see isn’t what they were looking for, they will leave faster than they came.  The result will be NO LEADS for you.

What is Good Ad Copy

Whenever you want to create powerful and effective marketing communications (ads, squeeze pages, emails, etc.) you want to keep in mind the acronym AIDA.

  • Attention- Good ad copy will grab your target market’s attention right away usually with a headline.
  • Interest- If the headline is good; your prospect will likely want to continue reading.  Now you want to isolate your prospect’s want, need, fear, problem or concern and then…
  • Desire- Make your prospect want what you have and take…
  • Action- Get them to leave their information.

Everything starts with the lead.  It doesn’t matter is you are buying leads from a lead broker or creating your own leads, everything you do from business standpoint begins with your leads.  This is your database.  Guard it; protect it, because it will be a goldmine when you use it correctly.

Leads will turn into sales, sales will turn into distributors, distributors will turn into even more distributors, and more distributors will turn into larger commission checks for you.  How do you get more leads?

More Traffic = More Leads

You really can’t have TOO much traffic going to your website.  The good news is that there are more than a few options available to you when it comes to driving traffic to your website.  But they can be broken down into 2 categories:

Free Traffic and Paid Traffic

Free website traffic can be broken down into:

  • Article Marketing
  • Social Media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc)
  • Blogs
  • Press Releases
  • Social Bookmarking (Digg, Stumble Upon, Delicious, etc.)

Paid website traffic can be broken down into:

  • Pay Per Click
  • Ezine Advertising
  • Banners

If you have more time than money, then you may want to use the free traffic methods.  Just be aware that it takes a lot of work, and time.  Traffic won’t happen overnight.  If you want things to happen quicker, then you may want to consider using the paid traffic methods.

Frankly, I’m a fan of using both methods.  I use PPC because I can track my results and make changes based on what I see.  I can track how well, or not well, things are going at the keyword level and based on what I see, I can change the message on my landing pages, remove keywords, adjust keyword bid prices, or a whole slue of other options.  PPC is great for testing because it can bring in large amounts of traffic in a short amount of time.  However, I also use blogs, social media, article marketing, and a few others.  I don’t rely on just one source for all of my traffic and neither should you.

Take at look at your situation, do you have more time than money, then you may want to consider using the no cost methods.  If you want things to happen right away, then open your wallet.   A word of caution: if you don’t have a good foundation (skill set) already in place, I wouldn’t recommend that you get on the Internet just yet.  I can understand if you want to make things happen right away but it really isn’t a good idea to do that without knowing what you are doing and why you are doing it.  It really is a good idea to know what works, why it works, and how it works.

Using Pay-Per-Click (PPC) Advertising To Get Red Hot Leads For Your MLM

Monday, June 15th, 2009

So far on our journey to using the Internet to grow your MLM business, we have spoken about how choosing a domain name can increase your MLM sales.  If you missed this post, you can read it here.  I told you that you should get an autoresponder so that you can collect your leads and create a relationship with your prospects with follow up emails.  You can read about autoresponders here.  We have also spoken about how a squeeze page can get you good leads every day; you can read that here if you missed it.  I also showed you 2 very easy ways to get your own squeeze page in just a few minutes and you can read about that here.

Putting It Together To Get MLM Sales

Now it’s time to put our domain name and our squeeze page together and get out there on the Internet and get us some red hot leads to work with.  Today I want to talk about Pay-Per-Click advertising also known as PPC and how we can use it to get us the best qualified leads in the shortest amount of time.

First I would like to say that using PPC to get qualified leads for your MLM is a very, very powerful tool but it isn’t for everyone.  I mean it; I want you to listen to this right here.  PPC can cost you a small fortune while you try to figure it out.  Yes it’s a great tool and it can get you loads of qualified prospects every day but even if you are only paying when someone clicks on your ad, even if each click is only costing you less than 50 cents, you can run out of funds real quick with nothing to show for it.

Do Your Homework Before You Get Started With PPC Advertising

I don’t want to scare you away from using PPC but I do want you to do your homework before get started using it.  I love using Google Adwords and I absolutely know that using this technology is a great way to grow your network marketing business.

Actually, there probably isn’t a market that folks like you haven’t been able to make a profit in when it comes to using PPC advertising.  With that in mind I want to tell you that even though I feel comfortable using Google Adwords, I do not feel comfortable teaching you how to use it.  (How many network marketers do you know that will tell you they don’t feel they are the right person to tell you how to do something?  There probably aren’t too many of us but I do know my limitations and that is why I am going to point you in the right direction.)

I don’t want to leave you hanging, so I would like to introduce you to my colleague Perry Marshall.  He’s coached folks in bringing paying traffic to their own website in industries more wild and diverse than you can imagine. Golf. Seafood. Guided imagery. Credit repair. Grief recovery. Shoulder pain. Gift baskets. Custom electronics. Parenting advice. Yacht rentals. Copywriting. Sports equipment. And more.

Nearly every imaginable business out there – including your own – has potential customers going on line right this minute looking for solutions … solutions just like you offer. Wouldn’t you like to get our name in front of them and start bringing those clicks to your site?

Perry Marshall has created a simple online course that can get you started into Google AdWords today. You can have fresh, qualified traffic coming to your website in as little as ten minutes. You can sign up for his course, “5 Days to Success with Google AdWords,” right now. Just click here.

Just sign up for the course, it’s free, and see for yourself if Perry really knows what he’s talking about when it comes to Google Adwords and PPC.  Please don’t listen to those that tell you that doing PPC is easy.  Yes, it is easy but it can also clean out your bank account if you don’t know what you are doing.

Okay, my fellow network marketers, that’s it for today.  Go out there and grow your MLM business.  If you have any questions, or need help in any way, please feel free to contact me.
