Handling Objections
Tuesday, January 27th, 2009In network marketing, you usually only get one opportunity to close a prospect. With that in mind you must give it all that you have while you have that prospect’s attention. As I say this, I don’t want you to get the idea that I mean for you to hound your prospect to the point where they would rather get their eye poked out than to do business with you. That’s not what I mean at all.
Even someone that is good at closing may only close 20-30 percent of the time. You may be saying that 20 or 30 percent is a low number but in fact it isn’t that bad. Let’s put these numbers into perpective. For every 10 qualified prospects that you speak with, you will close two – three of them converting them into customers.
When you are closing, you are obligated to give it all that you have. If you are talking to a prospect at the closing stage they MUST want what you have or they wouldn’t even be there. You only have to HELP them to make up their mind.
The best way to do that is to make sure that you are comfortable with your closing skills and be in control of the conversation. People are more willing to buy from someone that has confidence and shows leadership in what they are doing.
Another thing that is good to know when you are trying to close the sale is that there are really only two objections that anyone can give you. They may be phrased in different ways but there are only two reasons that someone will give you for not wanting to buy your product or service.
Once you have identified your prospect’s reason for not wanting to buy, you need only follow a simple four step process to overcome that objection. The key ingredients to overcoming someone’s objection are leadership and confidence.
Learning to close a prospect may make you feel uncomfortable at first. After you have done it for a while it becomes no big deal. Most things that are worth doing are going to be uncomfortable in the beginning during the learning process.
The biggest thing to remember is that you should expect to hear the “no’s” and even the people that are good at closing a sale usually only close on average 20-30 percent of the time.
Sell Yourself Not Your MLM Business
Tuesday, January 20th, 2009As a network marketer or for that matter anyone who is in sales, until you make the sale and collect the payment, you don’t get paid. Today I want to share with you the secret to closing the sale.
If you have been a network marketer for any length of time, you probably have come across some resistance from people you are wanting to sell to. The truth is that most people don’t like to be sold. I’m sure that everyone has had at least once in their life, experienced a time when they have come across a salesperson that was unprofessional or was manipulative in their selling methods. Sooner or later, everyone runs into a salesperson that gives you a really bad taste in your mouth, giving the good salespeople a bad name.
When it comes to network marketing or MLM companies, the odds are pretty good that you will come across a lot of people that have tried that product or business and because of their bad experience think that all MLM companies are a scam. So, let’s not have any false illusions that a lot of people are out there just waiting with an open wallet for you to sell them your mlm product or service. The truth is that less than one percent of the population should even be considered in your target market. The good news is that as long as you aren’t trying limit your market to friends and family, there is a huge number of people that would be interested in your product or service.
So, What’s The Secret To Closing The Sale
The secret to closing the sale, and it doesn’t matter if you are a network marketer or in another industry, is to sell yourself. You have to think in terms of how you can help your prospect by guiding them to make a decision based on their needs, wants, or desires, not yours.
Let me give you an example. There are more real estate agents selling properties from the same MLS list than I can count. So, why are some agents more successful than others at making the sale? The answer is simple really. The prospect must like you, believe in you, and feel comfortable with you. If the prospect doesn’t have a good feeling about you, there isn’t any reason they should do business with you not when there is someone else. The same goes for network marketing. You have to be able to sell yourself.
Believe In Your MLM Product or Service
Before you can sell your product or service to a prospect, you must completely believe in the product or service provided by your network marketing company. Otherwise you won’t be able to sell your products with conviction. You can try to “fake it” if you are just in it for the money but the chances are pretty good that your prospects will see right through you.
Have Confidence
Confidence comes when network marketers believe strongly in the value and benefits of their product or service. When you have that much belief in your product you become motivated to provide that value to your prospects. The truly great network marketers are more concerned with providing benefits to their prospects than they are with the size of their commission checks. Look at the network marketers whose major focus is on the money and you see a network marketer that struggles with growing their home based business.
Be Sincere
Having sincerity should be the easiest part of closing the sale. It comes down to just caring about your prospects and believing in your MLM product. If you don’t have these things, then I would advise you to get out of network marketing all-together or find a product that you can believe in.
The key to selling yourself is to believe in your MLM product or service, and to want to help your prospect to make a decision based on thier needs not yours. If you focus solely on helping others, the money will come. If you focus only on the money, you not only will hate your home based business but you probably won’t make any money at it either.
Network Marketing Training
Thursday, January 15th, 2009A lot of times when I speak to other network marketers about getting educated in the art and science of marketing, I hear that they don’t know where to get that education and sometimes I hear that they don’t have any money to pay for an education in network marketing.
Believe me when I say that I understand what it means to be broke and don’t see how you can possibly make this home based business grow.
Trust me when I say that you don’t have to have money to get educated in network marketing. There is free training out there for network marketers but not all training is created equal.
View The MLM Training Source
Who is providing the training. If your training is coming from your MLM company, what are the real motives behind that training. Are they really trying to help you grow your home based business or are they trying to promote the MLM company’s name using your money? You know what I mean don’t you? Telling you that you have to buy magazines, flyers, CDs, or more product from your MLM company in order to grow your business. In other words is your MLM training going to directly benefit the person providing it?
It’s okay that your trainer benefit for providing you valuable network marketing training but if it is truly your business, why are you promoting your MLM company as the expert instead of promoting yourself as the expert in the product or service. Let me put it this way. If you were looking for a contractor, would you hire one based solely on the products that they carry or do you look at the expertise that the contractor has. When you speak to them, do they sound like they know what they are talking about or are you not worried about that?
Becoming The Expert
How does one become an expert in network marketing? Well to start, you want to know everything that you can about your product or service. What are the benefits to using it versous other similar products that are already on the market? You also want to be knowledgable in the business side. People like to buy from those that they trust. Customers have to have confidence in the person that they are buying from. Now as a network marketer you can fake it until you make it or you can get the proper education. The most successful marketers have the skills in the art and science of marketing.

Growing Your MLM Business Online
Tuesday, January 13th, 2009What most MLM marketers are led to believe is that by having an internet presence, the MLM distributor will be tapping into internet marketing. Unfortunately, a MLM company replicated website will do very little to position YOU, and do a great deal to position THE MLM COMPANY.
Don’t get me wrong having a MLM company website is a fabulous post-consumption tool. Once your prospect has already made a purchase, a replicated site is great for follow-up orders. However, they are terrible at getting the initial purchase. For that, you have to give your prospect a good reason to want to buy.
In network marketing, in order to create that urgency to buy (and to buy from you) you have to stand out from everyone else and you can’t do that when your site looks just like every one else’s.
To be able to succeed at your network marketing business you have to master the art and science of marketing and as a part of that art and science, you have to master ad copy. Successful network marketing is about finding the people who already want what you have and at that point, you don’t have to sell anything, you only have to give them what they already want.
